Second Class

Welcome to second class. We have two wonderful second classes this year. Their teachers are Laura and Loraine.

Laura's Class
February

Happy New Year to everyone! This month we are celebrating the Chinese New Year. We have been making dragons in Art as it is the Year of the Dragon. We are learning a Chinese song and reading Chinese stories.In Geography and History, we have been learning lots of interesting facts about China, writing letters to a Chinese girl and we're learning some Chinese language too.
Next week, we will start our English Power Hour, which we're really looking forward to. We will be baking healthy muffins with parents this month also.
In January, we've been learning about the life of Martin Luther King.
We're really looking forward to swimming next month and, in the meantime, we're busy doing gymnastics.

Fáilte ar ais chuig Rang a Dó agus Lorraine.
Since our last update, lots of great things have taken place in our class. In December we had great fun preparing and performing a drama as Gaelige 'Na Trí Mhuc' for Laura's 2nd Class. Everyone put in a big effort and did their best so it was really exciting and great fun.
Our class enjoyed learning about the Christian celebration of Christmas. We learned a few new Christmas songs and loved singing along with the children and staff from the whole school in the hall before the holidays.2nd Class are remembering to be trustworthy and respectful to others at all times and we often see children in our class doing nice respectful acts and showing each other that we are trustworthy by our actions. We are learning about China and the Chinese New Year celebrations which welcomes the Year of the Dragon. We are learning some lovely poems and listening to music about Chinese New Year.
We had great fun baking healthy Banana and Poppy Seed Muffins in Ciara's room. We had great help from our Mam's so a big "Thank You" to them for coming in and to Ciara for organising it for us.
