Junior Infants
Welcome to Junior Infants! We have two Junior Infant classes this year. These classes are taught by Claire and Marian.

Happy New Year from Claire's class. We are learning about fresh starts and have made new year resolutions. We also celebrated the Chinese New Year, it is the Year of the Dragon. We made some Chinese dragons and went on a parade around the school. Now that we are in Term 2, we are starting to learn how to make letters, all out pre-writing practise in the first term really helped. Molly in our class even won the Junior Handwriting competition for her beautiful work. Of course, we are still learning all our new sounds, numbers and Irish with Rocai Rua. We are Busy Bees in 2012!!

Happy New Year from everyone in Junior Infants!
This month we are learning about how to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We have created a great display for the Ethical Education board in the corridor outside the hall, full of colourful dragons. 2012 is the year of the dragon. We had great fun cutting, painting and sticking the dragons together. Come and have a look at our colourful display.
We read the story of Little Red Riding Hood this month also. We thought the wolf was very mean. We learned the song of the Little Red Riding Hood. When we are pretending to be the wolf in the song, we sound very scary!
As we are getting a little bit older now, we are learning how to write the letters of the alphabet! So far, we can write c, o, a and d. We sit correctly in our chairs and hold our pencils properly when we are writing. We feel like big boys and girls now that we are writing letters!
In December, we made some birdfeeders for our winter birds. it is hard for the birds to find food in the winter time. We hung the birdfeeders outside our window and in other areas in the yard. We enjoyed watching the birds eating the birdfood from the birdfeeders.
Finally, we want to say a huge “Go raibh maith agat” or “Thank you” to all the parents who have come into our class for Reading Time on a Friday morning. We love to hear new stories and enjoy having our parents in the class with us!
