PTA Fundraising-School Photographs
A professional photographer will be taking portrait photographs at school next Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 April. He will take individual shots, groups of siblings and class groups. There will be no obligation to buy any photos. All proofs will be sent home to parents before orders are taken. Please indicate on the consent form (and to the teachers) if you would like individual photos of your children, photos with brothers and sisters or both. We would like the children to dress smartly for the photos and would prefer if they did not wear track-suits or football jerseys on Wednesday and Thursday. Many thanks to the PTA for helping to organise this fund-raising event for CETNS. 15% of all the sales will be donated back to the school. Míle buíochas.

Fingal Student Enterprise Awards
Our fantastic 6 Class recently took part in the Fingal Student Enterprise Programme and set up a mini-company called “Superstrings”. They attended the awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza on 19 March where they met the Mayor of Fingal and impressed him with their business enterprise. Caitríona and her class worked very hard on their business plan, promoting and selling their products (pens and keyrings) and we congratulate them on their achievement!

More Super Strings!
On Friday, 19 March the Junior Strings Section of the Dublin Youth Orchestra visited the school and played a beautiful concert for many of our classes and staff. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful performance and the children learned about all the different stringed instruments of the orchestra. Thanks to Romey Doyle, a member of our Board of Management, who organised the event for us.

We’re delighted to announce that we raised almost €1,000 on the day and would like to thank all the pupils parents and staff who donated so generously to this very worthy cause. Thanks also to the parents who came to see the film. We hope you enjoyed it!

Parental Involvement:
Art Project:
Art Project 2010 is up and running again! This year the parents have decided to focus on what it means to YOU to be Irish. Is there a particular thing you are particularly proud of or think of when you think of being Irish or living in Ireland? Give us one word that represents your thoughts. e.g. G.A.A. Every year the art project is an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company while doing a small craft. Please come along to help us and share your ideas next Wednesday the 28th @ 8:30am. You do not need to have any particular art skills….. it is just for fun!
Healthy Food Made Easy:
Take this free course and in just 6 WEEKS our trainers will have you excited about healthy food. With sessions lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes each week, you will have an improved knowledge of nutrition while preparing your meals at home. This course will take place every Wednesday from 10:30am-1:00pm. It will be starting on Wednesday the 28th of April.
First Aid Course
We are delighted this year to be able to run a First Aid course. It is a seven-week course that will take place every Thursday from 11:00am-1:00pm. It is a FETAC accredited course.
Parent and Toddler Group:
Come and join us in our parent and toddler group. It’s a great opportunity for parents to form friendships, for children to play and socialise together in a safe and friendly environment and to find out information about events happening in the school. Some of the things we do are arts and crafts, story-time, games and play. It is for children up to the age of 4. If you are interested please come along on Monday mornings at 8:30am-10:00am in the HSCL room.

School Song
You may have heard your kids singing our new school song, the “Castaheany Vibe” lately? Here are the words so you can learn it and sing along at home too!
1. Castaheany has a special vibe, It speaks a language we all understand
Not just words but everything we do, To welcome families from every land
Yeah, you get a friendly feeling when you walk inside the door,
And when you walk into a classroom you can feel it even more…
You can feel it all over, You can feel it all over, people……You can feel it all over…..
2. Ongar is our home, we love it here, We’re helping build a new community,
Staff and pupils and their families, Fulfilling dreams and opportunities
Because the Educate Together way is kind and fair and true
We get support, respect and dignity and then the rest is up to you…..
We can feel it all over, we can feel it all over people…..We can feel it all over……. (to the tune of “Sir Duke”)
