Castaheany Educate Together School
Castaheany Educate Together School, under the patronage of Educate Together (the umbrella organisation for multi-denominational schools in Ireland), opened with three classes in September 2004 in Griffeen Valley Educate Together, Lucan. The three teachers included the then Principal Marie Gordon.
In September 2005 the school moved to prefabs on the site of Mary Mother of Hope National School and the staff rose to eleven including learning support and language support teachers. In addition the staff included two special needs assistants and one secretary. Mary Healy became principal in November 2006.
A site for our new school was purchased by the Department of Education at Ongar Village in Dublin 15.
Each school year has seen a rise in pupil and staff numbers. There are now classes from junior infants right through to 6th class. The teaching staff has risen to twenty three including our principal Mary. There are six SNA's, one secretary and one caretaker. Castaheany Educate Together School remained in the prefabs at Mary Mother of Hope National School until June 2008.
The entire school community moved to our new building in Ongar Village on Monday 9th June 2008. Everyone is delighted and settling in well!
