Whats Going On?
Athletics 2011-2012
November
Hi everyone,
The athletics team have begun their training for this year's Fingal Athletics League which began this month. We had a competition in Porterstown Park on the 11th of October. Lorraine and Laura brought the team along and we had some really fantastic results. Michael from Aideen's class came 1st in his race. A huge well done to Michael and all of the children on the team. Training takes place each Wednesday with Laura, Lorraine and Renata from 2.10-3.00 for children from 3rd to 6th.
We are really impressed with the hard work the children are putting into the training and it shows in the competitions. The next race days are Tuesday November 15th, March 6th and April 14th from 11.30 to approx 1.00.
All parents are more than welcome to come along and support the team. Thank you for your support.
We hope to have some photos for the website soon.

Girls’ Soccer News
May
Some of the girls from 5th and 6th classes have been busy training and playing matches over the past few weeks. Our team is playing in Division 2 of the North Dublin Girls’ Primary Schools League. So far we have played three matches against Castleknock ETNS, Scoil Íde in Coolock and St. Patrick’s NS in Corduff.
Unfortunately we lost our first three matches but we had lots of fun and our soccer skills are getting much better. We are enjoying working together as a team.

Be Active!
March
What is it?
The 'Be Active' programme is in our school for a group of children from the two First classes. This fun class is based on the P.E. curriculum and is aimed at promoting fitness and healthy habits in children. This programme is an initiative of the HSE and is now being adopted by 55 schools in the Dublin/Meath area this year. The class is run by the teacher leader Claire Foskin and six parent leaders. The children are currently developing new skills in sports such as tennis, basketball and soccer. Most importantly, they are having lots of fun!!
March Update:
'Be Active' have just finished the Gymnastics module of the programme. The children have developed skills in the performance of balances, jumps and have learnt how to sequence movements as well as developing overall strength and flexibility. Have a look at some of the brilliant things we learnt. Well done to all the children and to the Parent Leaders who help to run the Programme.
